I wrote this song the day John Prine died. Reeling in the disenfranchised grief of my father's Lewy Body Dementia diagnosis and mourning the passing of a songwriter idol; I sat down outside and watched a bumble bee buzz around a flower and heard a dog bark in the distance... then the song rolled out of me like the breeze.....
lyrics
NightFlower
The time has come to say, "Goodbye."
But the bees keep a'buzzing around the flowers outside
You, the birds & me can only sing these melodies
Cause they’re all that we got to get by
*
Don’t waste another minute
Cause things change by the hour
You can lose it all in just a second
Fast Forward
Flash o’light
Keep safe
NightFlower
*
The wind sings sweet blowing through the trees
& a dogs bark is a’howling in the breeze
These late, late nights come
Almost every single day
But the rhythm of my feet walkin’
Down the street keep me sane
